Responsibilities

As part of the commercial team, the Quantity Surveyor will

  • Administer NEC3 contracts, ensuring full compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage commercial activities from project commencement through to final account.
  • Lead and oversee the Compensation Event process, including timely submission, assessment, negotiation, and resolution.
  • Prepare, submit, and manage applications for payment with accuracy and in alignment with contractual terms.
  • Monitor and control project costs, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow to ensure financial efficiency.
  • Identify and mitigate commercial risks while capitalising on emerging opportunities.
  • Procure and manage subcontract packages, handling valuations and final accounts.
  • Assess variations and maintain comprehensive and accurate commercial records.
  • Produce and present monthly cost reports and financial forecasts to the wider team and stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, and site teams to maximise project performance.
  • Build and foster strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and other key stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to organisational procedures, DEI commitments, and contractual obligations.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will demonstrate

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with a focus on civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience working with NEC3 contracts, including Compensation Event management.
  • Expertise in valuations, cost reporting, and preparing final accounts.
  • Strong commercial awareness, coupled with excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Capability to work both autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (preferred).
