Technician
This is for our Client, who is an industry-leading company with over 35 years of experience in creating physical special effects for Film, Television, Commercials, Live Events, and Exhibitions. Their wide range of services includes pyrotechnics, atmospherics, animatronics, models & miniatures, props, prosthetics, and special costumes.
Location: London Workshop (Perivale)
Salary Range: Β£30,000 β Β£32,000
Role Overview
We are looking for a Technician to assist senior technicians and supervisors in the preparation, construction, and execution of models and effects. The role involves creating animatronics, mechanical rigs, models, miniatures, and props based on technical specifications.
- Model-making expertise.
- Working knowledge of workshop processes such as machining, welding, molding, and vacuum forming.
- Familiarity with materials like plastics, metals, timber, and 3D-printed components.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, sketches, and specifications.
- Basic understanding of:
- Electro-mechanical equipment and devices.
- Wiring circuits.
- Hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Pumping and water systems.
- Wire and pulley systems.
- Gas and flame equipment.
- Knowledge of safety legislation relevant to mechanical and electrical projects.
- Calm under pressure and adaptable to changing project demands.
- Strong team player with excellent collaboration skills.
- Background in film, television, or live events.
- Degree or certification in Special Effects, Engineering, or Design.
- Knowledge of lighting and camera equipment.
- Familiarity with SFX equipment, including smoke machines, steam generators, and motorized equipment.
- Hands-on experience with special effects such as mechanics, miniatures, and animatronics.
