Overview

This is for our Client, who is an industry-leading company with over 35 years of experience in creating physical special effects for Film, Television, Commercials, Live Events, and Exhibitions. Their wide range of services includes pyrotechnics, atmospherics, animatronics, models & miniatures, props, prosthetics, and special costumes.

Salary Range £37,000 – £44,000 per annum

Main Responsibilities

  • Design hardware for 3-phase control systems, including component specification and installation.
  • Work with high-power motors, actuators, or industrial automation systems.
  • Install power distribution systems and manage large electrical installations.
  • Perform general soldering for PCBs and wiring looms.
  • Research and specify components for small-scale battery-powered and larger-scale electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoot and solve technical problems.
  • Maintain workshop equipment and adhere to safe practices in electronics.
  • Adapt to last-minute changes in project briefs.
  • Occasionally travel for off-site work worldwide.
  • Expertise in hardware design and power management systems.
  • Strong soldering skills and familiarity with fault-finding techniques.
  • Proficiency in high-level programming languages (e.g., C, C++, BASIC).
  • Practical and hands-on approach to unique, prototype-based projects.
  • Familiarity with microcontrollers (e.g., Arduino, PIC) for power and motor control.
  • Knowledge of DMX or other show control systems.
  • Experience in PCB design and production.
  • Understanding of electrical firing systems for stage pyrotechnics.
