Our public sector client is seeking reliable and hardworking Street Cleaners to support environmental cleanliness and public safety across Leicestershire. The role involves outdoor cleansing, waste removal, and supporting emergency and reactive operations as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • MUST have driving licence (No points)
  • Cleaning & Waste Removal
    • Sweep and clean outdoor public areas to remove litter, debris, leaves, and waste, including:
      • Streets and walkways
      • Areas adjacent to highways and properties such as backings, channels, footways, planters, shrubbed areas, and grass verges
    • Empty public litter bins
    • Clear dog waste from public areas
    • Remove illegal dumping (fly-tipping)
  • Operational Support
    • Support other departments in resolving issues and responding to emergency incidents, including:
      • Working with City Wardens to identify evidence linked to fly-tipping reports
      • Assisting Highways teams with snow clearance, flood response, and other road cleaning operations
    • General Duties
      • Carry out additional tasks as assigned by the Team Leader to ensure:
        • Sites remain clean, safe, and well-maintained
        • Emergency and reactive situations are effectively supported

    Required Experience & Skills

    • Previous experience undertaking cleansing or environmental services work
    • Ability to carry out physically demanding duties in an outdoor environment
    • Experience working to strict operational and health & safety procedures
    • Experience using cleaning chemicals, tools, and equipment safely
    • Ability to provide basic information and assistance to members of the public
    • Flexibility to move between tasks or locations based on operational demand
    • Experience carrying out basic vehicle safety checks
