Our public sector client are looking for a Book Bus Driver/Library Assistant to join them on a temporary basis.
Hours: Monday–Thursday, 13:00–20:00 (additional weekend hours available)
Pay Rate: £13.71ph
Requirements:
- CPC qualification
- 7.5 tonne driving licence
- Works alongside a Library Assistant or Manager
Role Purpose: Drive the Bookbus across Leicester and support delivery of community library services, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and reliable experience for users.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive the Bookbus to schools, street stops, and events
- Carry out routine vehicle checks, cleaning, and basic maintenance
- Ensure vehicle safety, security, and readiness for use
- Welcome and assist customers, including operating accessibility equipment
- Support activities and engage with children, families, and the public
- Handle basic enquiries and escalate issues when needed
- Respond to emergencies and provide First Aid if required
