Our client is currently looking to recruit a Housekeeping Supervisor to join them on a temporary basis, initially for 1 year Job Purpose: * To supervise the day to day housekeeping and linen service team * Be responsible for ensuring high standards of cleaning are maintained in line with the National Specifications for Cleanliness in the NHS. * To work as an integral part of the Estates & Facilities Team ensuring a high quality services to patients. * To support ward staff in the delivery of protected patient meal times. * Provide a hospital Linen service to all wards and departments. Key Responsibilities: * Maintain high standards of cleanliness in line with agreed procedures which aim to reduce the risk of hospital acquired infections. * Implement and abide by the strict ‘National Colour Coding System’ for cleaning within a healthcare environment. * To introduce changes to working frequencies and input hours in line with service needs and guidance. * Ensure staff complete tasks in line with agreed cleaning schedules and time frames. * To provide all staff with full training in all aspects of the role, ensuring training records are signed off and kept up to date. * To manage staff sickness, annual leave and absence in line with key Trust policies,ensuring service needs take priority at all times. * To complete staff return to work interviews following any periods of sickness. * To manage staff performance in line with Trust Performance and Conduct Policies. * To provide weekly staff performance returns in relation to annual leave, sickness, overtime and vacancies. * To carry out ‘National Cleaning Standards Audits’ of all areas. Identify any shortfalls and work with housekeeping staff to ensure each area meets the agreed cleaning targets. * Ensure an adequate level of hospital linen is ordered to accommodate daily requirements and ensure contingency stock levels are maintained. * Ensure clean linen requirements are collated daily (Mon – Fri) and sufficient quantities of linen is delivered to required areas. * Ensure sufficient quantities of cleaning mops are washed and available at all times. * Provide copies of all ward cleaning audits to the Ward Sisters, which will form part of their monthly ward performance reporting. * Spend time with staff in their areas of work to provide support and guidance ensuring open communication between clinical and operational teams. * To take responsibility for the safe storage of all cleaning products and materials, ensuring hazardous chemicals are locked safely within cleaning trolley’s and resource cupboards. * To carry out risk assessments and develop safe systems of work for all housekeeping related tasks, ensuring all staff have access to these documents as part of individual staff training. * To provide and maintain all COSHH information relating to all cleaning products, ensuring all housekeeping staff have access to this information. * To ensure all staff are provided with, and wear the appropriate uniform and PPE whilst on duty. * To ensure records for the management of housekeeping consumables are maintained and provided to the Housekeeping Manager on a monthly basis. * Ensure catering consumables, crockery and cutlery is available for each ward area. * To carry out staff appraisals on an annual basis ensuring set objects relate to performance targets and core Trust Values. * To ensure all staff complete the required statutory and mandatory training in line with their contract of employment.
