Our Public sector client are looking for a Fleet Manager to join them on a temporary basis.
Location: LE11 2TX (Hybrid)
Start: ASAP | Contract: 5+ months
Hours: 37 per week (Mon-Fri)
Role Overview
Responsible for managing fleet operations, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and cost control across vehicles, drivers, and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure fleet compliance (roadworthiness, MOTs, inspections, driver records)
- Develop fleet strategy to reduce downtime and improve performance
- Manage audits, reporting, and compliance documentation
- Coordinate vehicle maintenance, servicing, and repairs
- Deliver training, toolbox talks, and compliance briefings
- Monitor performance data and implement improvements
- Manage budgets and control fleet costs
- Oversee accident reporting, claims, and risk mitigation
- Support sustainability and low-emission vehicle initiatives
- Lead vehicle procurement and replacement
- Manage driver compliance (training, licence checks, performance)
- Oversee grey fleet and drug/alcohol testing
- Ensure information security and complete ad hoc duties as required
Requirements
- 5+ years fleet management experience (including leadership)
- Experience with large fleets, compliance frameworks, and procurement
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Budget management and data analysis experience
