About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Mechanic/Technician to join our Transport Operations team. You will help keep our fleet of vehicles and plant equipment safe, roadworthy, and running efficiently. This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same - from diagnosing faults to carrying out repairs and servicing a wide range of vehicles.
What You Will Be Doing
- Servicing, maintaining, and repairing light and heavy vehicles and plant equipment
- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
- Carrying out inspections, servicing, and MOT testing
- Completing repairs to a high standard
- Keeping accurate job records and paperwork
- Following all health & safety procedures
- Supporting and mentoring apprentices
- Helping improve workshop efficiency and productivity
What We Are Looking For
Essential:- Experience working in a workshop or garage
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good organisation and time management
- Knowledge of vehicle repair and maintenance (cars, HGVs, or plant)
- Understanding of health & safety practices
- Full UK driving licence
- City & Guilds (or equivalent in vehicle maintenance)
- MOT Tester licence
- HGV Licence (Category C)
- HGV Class C+E licence
- Experience with plant machinery
- IT skills (e.g. Microsoft Office)
- Ongoing professional development
- Problem-solving and decision-making
- Communication and teamwork
- Ability to stay calm under pressure
- Planning and prioritising workload
Working Hours & Flexibility
- Occasional out-of-hours work may be required
- Participation in an on-call/standby rota
- Training and development opportunities provided
