HGV II Driver

Were looking for a reliable and safety-focused HGV Class 2 Driver to join my clientsteam in Coventry.

What youll be doing

• Driving council vehicles across Coventry and surrounding areas
• Supporting services such as waste collection, recycling, street cleaning, and drainage
• Leading and working with a crew to make sure jobs are completed safely and on time
• Carrying out daily vehicle checks and reporting any issues
• Following all road laws, safety rules, and council procedures
• Speaking with members of the public in a polite and helpful way
• Reporting any incidents, near misses, or safety concerns

Key responsibilities

• Ensure your vehicle is safe, clean, and ready for use
• Monitor working hours and follow driving regulations
• Make sure loads are within legal weight limits
• Work closely with supervisors and team members
• Support and guide new drivers when needed
• Follow all site rules when visiting depots or disposal sites

What were looking for

• A valid Class 2 (Category C) HGV licence (max 6 penalty points)
• A current Driver CPC qualification
• A good understanding of road safety and transport laws
• Experience driving large vehicles in a professional setting
• Ability to work under pressure and stay calm in challenging situations
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Basic IT skills for completing reports and checks
