The successful candidate will work as part of a team to deliver an extensive Programme of vehicle maintenance, re-pair, inspection and examination. They will work to ensure compliance with statutory legislation, the legal requirements of the Councils Operators License, DVSA requirements and internal Council policies and procedures. To provide support to all the Council Services, we operate an alternating weekly shift rota of early and late shifts to cover the hours of 6.30am - 6pm at each depot (1 week early shift, 1 week late shift).
- City & Guilds Level 3 qualification in Heavy Motor Vehicle Engineering, or equivalent
- Qualified to VOSA standards for HGV inspections and tests
- Qualified MOT Nominated Tester class 4,5,7 to support the full time MOT retail and Taxi Nominated Tester.
- Experience of conducting maintenance, inspection, repair and test services for a diverse fleet including vehicles such as light vehicle van/Tipper's, Small Plant machines, Sweepers, Waste Tankers, and Large Refuse Vehicles.
- Experience of performing MIG welding; gas and electric welding. (Preferably a coded welder, but not essential).
- Experience of hydraulic and pneumatic diagnosis/repair
- Possess a full LGV Class 2 Category C Licence
- Ability to work on own initiative and to meet strict deadlines
