Responsibilities
- Prepare, review and deliver monthly management accounts on a timely basis.
- Lead month end close processes ensuring that all reconciliations, adjustments and control activities are completed.
- Assist in the preparation and review of regulatory and compliance filings including solvency reporting, FCA and VAT returns so that timely submissions are made.
- Lead the production of year‑end financial statements and act as a primary point of contact for external auditors, managing the audit process from planning through to completion to ensure timely delivery, accuracy, and compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Support the budgeting, forecasting, and long‑term financial planning cycles to ensure alignment with organisational objectives.
- Provide detailed reporting and analysis on business matters including variance analysis against budget, forecast and prior periods as well as identifying risks and opportunities to drive cost control.
- Work collaboratively with the CFO and Group Financial Controller to engage with a wide range of stakeholders across the organisation.
- Deliver financial reporting and analysis to senior stakeholders, effectively communicating key insights, risks and opportunities to inform and influence business decision‑making.
- Act as a role model and ambassador for the finance function, demonstrating professionalism and integrity, and representing the team both internally and externally on financial matters.
- Develop, review, and enhance financial processes, systems, and controls ensuring a strong governance framework which mitigates risk and drives continuous improvements and efficiencies.
About you
- Professional qualified accountant (for e.g. CIMA or ACCA) with strong technical accounting knowledge.
- Minimum of 2 years’ proven experience or equivalent, in management accounting or senior finance role including reporting, planning and financial control processes.
- Extensive knowledge in financial reporting, statutory accounts, audit and regulatory compliance (ideally within a regulated environment but not essential).
- Exceptional Excel skills with the ability to analyse complex data sets.
- Experience of data extraction and reporting tools such as SQL (desirable).
- Exposure to coding / automation tools to improve processes (desirable).
- Strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
- Highly effective communicator with the ability to present financial information clearly at all levels and work collaboratively with others.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills with the ability to manage complete deadlines and deliver high quality outputs in a fast‑paced environment.
