We are seeking a skilled, fully experienced and dedicated Gas Engineer to join our small friendly team. A company phone/tablet and van (with personal use allowed - subject to terms & conditions) will be provided. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing gas boilers, central heating installations and other gas appliances across various domestic properties in the Greater Manchester, Merseyside and surrounding areas, whilst also carrying out the usual servicing and gas safety inspections connected to this role. A strong understanding of the systems and procedures involved, together with knowledge of the necessary safety procedures, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are essential attributes. The position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in gas, plumbing and electrical engineering to develop their career within a reputable organisation.
Responsibilities:
- Install, service, and repair gas appliances and central heating systems in accordance with safety standards and regulations in mainly domestic properties.
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure the safe operation of gas equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to gas supply, piping, and appliances.
- Use hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, and plumbing tools to complete tasks efficiently.
- Perform heavy lifting when handling equipment or materials during installations or repairs.
- Carry out basic carpentry and assembly work as required for system fitting or modifications.
- Maintain detailed records of work performed and report any safety concerns or faults.
- Operate commercial vehicles for transportation to various sites as necessary.
- Follow all health and safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and colleagues.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in gas engineering and related trades such as plumbing and electrical fault finding, whilst an ability to carry out associated trades such as joinery would be beneficial.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, and assembly processes.
- A smart appearance and good communication skills (verbal and written) with customers and colleagues.
- Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of gas and electrical systems, together with safety standards.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently.
- Basic maths skills for measurements, calculations, and technical documentation, together with good written English for the preparation of job reports and quotations and the ability to use IT systems to aid the work processes.
- A full driving licence is essential.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while adhering to strict safety protocols.
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in all aspects of domestic gas engineering or plumbing are essential.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
