Role Overview
A leading UK-based global procurement service provider is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Procurement Specialist with direct expertise in the mining sector. In this role, you will source, procure, and supply a diverse selection of materials, heavy machinery, and services for international mining clients across both underground and open-pit operations. You will manage end-to-end purchasing cycles, evaluate technical RFQs, negotiate supplier terms, and coordinate international logistics to ensure cost-effective, timely delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Sourcing & Negotiation: Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with global suppliers to secure competitive pricing, optimal lead times, and high quality for mining equipment, parts, and consumables.
- RFQ & Proposal Management: Review client Requests for Quotation (RFQs) to verify commercial and technical compliance, producing comprehensive, clear, and competitive customer proposals.
- Stakeholder Management: Liaise directly with international mine operators, vendors, freight forwarders, and internal teams to manage expectations and ensure seamless order fulfillment.
- Contract & Order Execution: Execute purchase orders and supplier contracts; ensure accurate order confirmations, compliance documentation, and seamless handover to expediting teams.
- Supplier Performance: Assess vendors based on technical capability, financial credibility, delivery reliability, and adherence to safety and industry standards.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Direct Sector Experience: Minimum 3 years of procurement experience specifically handling mining equipment, machinery, and consumables for underground and open-cast mines.
- Global Sourcing: Proven track record quoting and sourcing for international clients, particularly across Africa, the Middle East, and the Americas.
- Trade & Logistics: Solid working knowledge of Incoterms, international shipping documentation, customs clearance, and global supply chain logistics.
- Technical & Commercial Acumen: Strong negotiation ability, contract management skills, and sharp attention to detail when analyzing multi-line technical proposals.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel for data analysis and margin calculations.
- Eligibility: Must currently reside in the UK with the ability to reliably commute daily to the Crawley head office.
