An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer to join a long-established and respected mechanical services firm. The company specialises in the design and installation of HVAC and plumbing systems for a diverse range of projects across Essex and surrounding counties, including commercial, healthcare, and education sectors. This role is ideal for a motivated engineer who enjoys working collaboratively in a dynamic and technically driven environment, delivering innovative mechanical design solutions from concept to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to the design and delivery of mechanical and HVAC systems for various projects.
- Prepare detailed design calculations, drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Conduct site surveys and provide on-site technical support when required.
- Collaborate with clients, architects, contractors, and project stakeholders to ensure coordinated and efficient designs.
- Ensure all designs comply with UK Building Regulations, CIBSE guidelines, and meet sustainability and BREEAM standards.
- Review and evaluate designs from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure quality and compliance.
- Participate in internal design reviews, contributing to continuous improvement and innovation within the design team.
Experience & Qualifications
- Degree, HND, or HNC in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent qualification.
- Proven experience in mechanical design within the building services industry.
- Experience working across commercial, healthcare, and educational environments.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and relevant design software such as MepWorx.
- Solid understanding of CIBSE, BREEAM, and Building Regulations.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and client-facing skills.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality engineering solutions.
