About the Opportunity

We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established, values-led investment manager running a diversified range of strategies for both retail and institutional investors, spanning private credit, social housing, clean energy and venture capital. The business manages a multi-billion-pound portfolio and has built a genuinely strong reputation in the market, recognised externally for both its investment performance and its culture, including accreditation as a certified B Corp and recent recognition as one of the best places to work in its sector.

This is a great opportunity to join a collaborative, growing finance function at a business that takes real pride in doing things the right way, for its investors, its people and the wider world.

The Role

Reporting into senior finance leadership within the Equity & Listed Vehicles team, the VCT Fund Accountant will take ownership of day-to-day finance across a mixed portfolio including a Venture Capital Trust, an energy investment strategy, and a social housing platform. The role covers accurate financial reporting, cash and liquidity management, financial control, statutory compliance and Board reporting, working closely with fund administrators, auditors, tax advisers and internal stakeholders across the investment lifecycle.

  • Identify and drive opportunities to improve finance processes and reporting.

Venture Capital Trust

  • Review quarterly management accounts prepared by fund administrators.
  • Manage cashflow forecasting.
  • Process investor subscriptions and redemptions.
  • Review investment valuations.
  • Monitor ongoing compliance with VCT qualifying rules.
  • Manage interim and annual reporting, including the audit process.

Energy Portfolio

  • Manage cash and liquidity across the portfolio.
  • Process invoices.
  • Coordinate statutory accounts and tax return filings.
  • Manage funds flows on financial close and drawdowns.
  • Review monthly accounts for underlying project companies.
  • Support tax and deal structuring on acquisitions.
  • Review monthly management accounts prepared by fund administrators.
  • Manage intercompany dividends, cash sweeps and corporation tax payments on account.
  • Review statutory accounts and tax returns across a large multi-entity structure.

Key Relationships

  • Senior finance leadership.
  • Investment teams.
  • Fund administrators and other service providers.
  • External auditors and tax advisers.
  • Board members.

What We're Looking For

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with strong post-qualification experience. VCT experience is essential.
  • Experience within investment trusts, funds or wider financial services is desirable, though not essential.
  • Strong technical accounting and financial reporting skills.
  • Advanced Excel and financial systems capability.
  • Excellent organisation, communication and stakeholder management skills.

Personal Qualities

  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and accuracy against tight reporting deadlines.
  • A confident, clear communicator, able to build trust with senior stakeholders, auditors and Board members.
  • Proactive and solutions-focused, comfortable taking ownership of complex financial processes.
  • A collaborative team player, working effectively with third-party administrators and cross-functional colleagues.
