The role
- Reporting to the Syndicate Financial Controller, you'll take ownership of the monthly and quarterly general ledger close for the syndicate and its related legal entities, covering both Group reporting (US GAAP) and local reporting (UK GAAP).
- Guide and review the work of a Syndicate Accountant and Assistant Accountant.
- Monitor ledger integrity, investigate unusual balances, and drive improvements to accounting and reporting processes.
- Maintain and strengthen controls over general ledger balances, including reconciliations across years of account and classes of business.
- Liaise across Underwriting, Claims, Credit Control, Reinsurance and IT to support change activity and financial processes.
- Support FP&A, tax, actuarial, reporting and Treasury colleagues with analysis and planning.
- Coordinate and lead the external audit process, liaising directly with auditors.
What we're looking for

- Solid understanding of the financial and regulatory landscape of a general insurance business; Lloyd's syndicate accounting experience is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, with the confidence to communicate at all levels.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
- Oracle ERP experience is an advantage.
