Senior Payroll & Benefits Manager
Location: Cambridgeshire Office (once a week)
Contract: Interim Day Rate £500 - £700 per day
Duration: 6 Months+
The Opportunity
JSS Finance are working with a leading international organisation to recruit an experienced Senior Payroll & Benefits Manager
This role offers the opportunity to lead payroll and benefits delivery for a sizeable employee population within a collaborative, commercially focused environment. You'll work closely with HR, Finance and senior leadership to ensure payroll excellence while supporting ongoing
transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the operational delivery of monthly payroll across multiple UK business units.
- Ensure accurate, compliant and timely payroll processing.
- Manage relationships with external payroll providers and benefit partners.
- Oversee employee benefits administration including pensions, healthcare, life assurance and salary sacrifice schemes.
- Ensure compliance with UK payroll legislation and internal controls.
- Support payroll systems enhancements and process optimisation.
- Partner with HR and Finance to improve payroll efficiency and reporting.
- Manage payroll audits, reconciliations and year-end processes.
- Lead and develop the payroll team whilst promoting best practice.
- Support business change initiatives including acquisitions, restructures and systems projects.
About You
You'll be an experienced payroll professional who enjoys balancing operational delivery with continuous improvement.
You'll bring:
- Significant experience managing large UK payrolls.
- Strong payroll legislation knowledge.
- Previous responsibility for employee benefits administration.
- Experience managing third-party payroll providers.
- Strong stakeholder management skills across HR, Finance and senior leadership.
- Systems experience including Workday, SAP, Oracle or similar HRIS/payroll platforms.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving capability.
- Previous experience within a large, multi-site organisation would be highly beneficial.
