This job requires 3 days a week on-site in around the Manchester area and 2 days remote.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Business Analyst to join a leading specialist commercial insurance organisation and play a key role in the delivery of technology and business change initiatives. This is a hands-on, technical Business Analyst position requiring strong experience across the full software development lifecycle. You will work closely with business stakeholders, developers, testers and third-party vendors to understand business challenges, define requirements and ensure technology solutions deliver genuine business value.
The successful candidate will ideally have experience within the London Market or commercial insurance sector, with exposure to insurance products, rating engines, policy administration platforms and digital transformation initiatives.
- Gather, analyse and document complex business and technical requirements, translating them into clear specifications, epics and user stories.
- Act as the key link between business stakeholders and development teams, ensuring requirements are understood and solutions are delivered effectively.
- Work closely with stakeholders across areas such as Underwriting, Actuarial and Finance.
- Challenge proposed solutions to ensure they address genuine business problems and deliver measurable value.
- Facilitate workshops and communicate complex concepts clearly to both technical and senior business stakeholders.
- Support Agile delivery through backlog refinement, sprint planning and the creation of high-quality user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Coordinate user involvement throughout the change lifecycle, from initial analysis through to UAT, implementation and post-production support.
- Create UAT test cases and support functional and user acceptance testing.
- Demonstrate system changes to key stakeholders ahead of UAT.
- Proactively manage assigned risks, issues, priorities and deliverables.
5+ years' experience in a Business Analyst or Senior Business Analyst role. Strong experience gathering, analysing and documenting business and technical requirements. Previous experience within insurance, ideally commercial insurance or the London Market. Experience working on digital transformation, digitisation or automation projects. Strong knowledge of the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery environments. Experience supporting functional testing and UAT, including writing test cases. Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to work across business, technology and third-party teams.
