I’m working with a high-performing, early-stage venture capital fund based in London, focused on backing pre-seed and seed-stage companies at the intersection of AI, media, and consumer technology. The firm has built a strong reputation in the market, with institutional backing, multiple successful exits (including unicorn outcomes), and consistent co-investment alongside top-tier global VCs. They are now entering an exciting phase of growth and looking to bring on a hands-on, commercially minded finance professional to help scale the platform. This is a highly visible, broad role reporting directly to a Founder, offering exposure across the full lifecycle of fund finance, investor relations, and portfolio support. It’s ideal for someone looking to step out of a siloed environment and take real ownership within a lean, entrepreneurial team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead quarterly and annual LP reporting, ensuring best-in-class output across financials and performance metrics
- Own portfolio valuations in line with IPEV guidelines and analyse key drivers of fund performance (IRR, TVPI, DPI)
- Manage the audit process and oversee external fund administrators
- Act as a key contact for LP queries, supporting AGMs, LPAC materials, and ad hoc requests
- Oversee drawdowns, distributions, trade settlements, and investor documentation
- Monitor portfolio company performance, tracking KPIs and financial metrics
- Engage directly with founders on finance-related topics (e.g. reporting, option schemes, venture debt)
- Support internal analysis and insights across the portfolio
- Support new fund launches, structuring, and fundraising processes
- Assist with DDQs, data rooms, and investor due diligence
- Contribute to broader strategic and operational initiatives as the firm scales
Management company / operational finance
- Oversee management company accounting, including monthly/annual reporting
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow management
- Manage treasury, liquidity, and payments across entities
- Oversee key operational areas such as expenses, payroll (outsourced), and insurance
Ideal Profile
- 4–8 years’ experience within venture capital, private equity, or other asset classes
- Strong understanding of fund structures, LP reporting, and valuation methodologies
- Experience working with auditors, fund administrators, and institutional investors
- Comfortable managing multiple workstreams in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and keen to take ownership in a lean team
Why this role?
- Opportunity to join a growing, top-performing VC platform with strong market momentum
- High visibility role working directly with senior leadership
- Broad exposure across fund finance, investor relations, and portfolio engagement
- Chance to play a key role in building and scaling the finance function
- Collaborative, entrepreneurial culture with a focus on innovation and technology
