We are working with a leading European Venture Capital investment platform with a multi-billion euro AUM and a diverse international investor base. The business is seeking a senior finance leader to oversee the finance function within a complex, multi-entity and multi-jurisdictional structure, supporting both corporate and fund-level activity.

Role Overview

The Finance Director will take ownership of the UK finance function while playing a key role in supporting broader group-wide financial operations across Europe and offshore entities. The role sits at the centre of fund finance, corporate structuring, investor reporting, and operational finance, and will be instrumental in driving the continued institutionalisation and efficiency of the platform. This is a highly hands-on yet strategic position, requiring close collaboration with senior leadership, investment teams, external investors, advisors, and service providers. The successful candidate will help shape financial infrastructure, improve reporting quality and insight, and ensure robust governance across all entities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Management Company Finance
    • Prepare and review monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
    • Oversee statutory reporting and ensure all filings are completed on time.
    • Lead preparation of annual financial statements and coordinate the audit process.
    • Manage payment runs, approval processes, and financial controls.
    • Oversee payroll and partner drawings, including pensions, HMRC compliance, and related obligations.
    • Provide clear financial insight to senior stakeholders and partners.
  • Tax & Compliance
    • Support tax structuring across the management company and related entities.
    • Ensure ongoing regulatory and statutory compliance requirements are met.
    • Manage FCA Appointed Representative compliance in coordination with advisers.
    • Act as key liaison for external advisers across tax, legal, audit, payroll, and compliance matters.
    • Support HR-related matters where they overlap with finance and payroll.
  • Fund & Investment Finance (Support)
    • Support fund accounting, reconciliations, and reporting processes.
    • Work with external fund administrators and advisers.
    • Review fund reporting for accuracy and consistency.
    • Assist with investor reporting, capital accounts, fees, carry, and related outputs.
    • Contribute to financial modelling, forecasting, and scenario analysis.
  • Systems, Controls & Operations
    • Operate effectively within a lean, outsourced finance function.
    • Manage and challenge external providers to ensure quality and accountability.
    • Improve financial systems, processes, and internal controls.
    • Support implementation of new systems and process improvements.
    • Oversee property-related financial administration across multiple locations.
    • Manage insurance, KYC, and other compliance/administrative requirements.
    • Oversee finance and compliance for UK holding entities.

Candidate Profile

A commercially minded and technically strong finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-standard environment. Comfortable operating across management accounts, statutory reporting, outsourced providers, financial modelling, and senior stakeholder engagement. This role suits someone self-sufficient and detail-oriented, comfortable working in a lean structure with significant reliance on external advisers rather than a large internal team.

Required Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Experience in private equity, venture capital, asset management, or investment management.
  • Strong understanding of management company accounting and multi-entity structures.
  • Experience preparing/reviewing management and statutory accounts.
  • Experience managing audits, tax, and compliance processes.
  • Strong experience working with outsourced finance, tax, audit, payroll, legal, and fund administration providers.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills (budgeting, forecasting, scenario analysis).
  • Experience improving or implementing finance systems and processes.
