Are you a technical problem-solver who thrives on modernising legacy systems and building scalable data solutions? We are partnering with a leading organisation in the London insurance market to find a Data & Systems Developer to join their Data Management & Automation team. This is a unique opportunity to act as a technical partner, taking ownership of the development and evolution of the company’s data and analytics estate while working in a collaborative, non-hierarchical environment.
The Role
- Modernise the Landscape: Design, build, and maintain new solutions using Databricks, R, Python, and Power BI.
- Drive Transformation: Lead the migration of the data landscape, replacing legacy Visual Basic scripts with modern SQL, Python, or R alternatives, and support the retirement of legacy technology.
- System Ownership: Take responsibility for the maintenance and evolution of the data repository and core reporting solutions.
- Strategic Engagement: Act as a trusted technical partner to business stakeholders, translating requirements into clear delivery plans and robust, well-governed reporting solutions.
- Future-Proofing: Contribute to architectural decisions and explore the integration of AI into the technology stack.
Your Profile
- Insurance background: mandatory
- Technical Proficiency: Strong coding skills in R, Python, and SQL. You should be well-versed in coding best practices, including DevOps, version control, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Domain Experience: Experience in data analysis and reporting, with a strong understanding of data and control requirements in a regulated setting.
- Architecture Mindset: Experience supporting major transformation programmes, such as system replacements or the implementation of core platforms. Exposure to enterprise data architecture or cloud-based platforms is required.
- Communication: Ability to act as a bridge between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, effectively managing expectations, dependencies, and risks.
Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent (ideally in a STEM subject).
