FP&A Analyst - Regulated Fintech

FP&A Analyst - Regulated Fintech

Full-Time On-site
J

Our client is building a fast-moving FP&A function and wants a strong finance analyst to own core parts of the planning cycle. You’ll work closely with teams across the business, so you’ll see how operational decisions show up in the numbers, and you’ll help leadership make sense of them.

The finance team works differently from most. It increasingly uses modern data and AI tools to automate reporting and tackle technical problems itself rather than waiting on others. You won’t need to be a technical expert on day one. You will need a logical mind, curiosity about how data and systems work, and a real wish to build those skills, with support from a team already doing it.

What you’ll do

Planning and reporting

  • Prepare the monthly operating model, reconcile it to the general ledger, and post the journals needed to close it out.
  • Challenge and improve how the business forecasts.
  • Support monthly board packs and the budget cycle, including interim and year-end.
  • Work with teams across the business to:
  • understand what’s changing and how it affects inputs to the operating model;
  • find gaps between finance forecasts and those used elsewhere, improving the accuracy of reporting;
  • understand each team’s reporting needs and improve the quality of communication across the business.
  • Contribute to reporting for external stakeholders.

Building your technical toolkit

  • Help find manual or fragile steps in how data reaches finance, and work out how they could be improved or automated.
  • Develop your skills in SQL, BI and dashboard tools, and automation, with guidance from the team.
  • Contribute ideas to the ongoing development of an in-house forecasting platform.
  • Use AI tools to work faster, and apply the judgement to check their output.

What you’ll bring

  • Solid experience in FP&A, commercial finance or a similar analytical finance role, ideally in industry with broad exposure to the finance function.
  • Ideally 2-6 years post qualification experience
  • Strong financial modelling, forecasting and reporting skills.
  • Advanced Excel.
  • Experience working alongside non-finance teams and translating numbers for them.
  • Technical aptitude. You can break down a technical problem, think logically about how to solve it, and you have some awareness of tools like SQL, BI platforms and automation, even if you’re not yet using them day to day.
  • A real appetite to learn, and an ownership mindset.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL, Power BI or similar, or building dashboards.
  • Exposure to automation, Python, or data pipelines and warehouses.
  • A finance qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA), or part-qualified or studying towards one.
