The JSS Group are hiring for a Tax Manager for a FTSE 250 company based in Hertfordshire (supporting up to 3 days per week remote working). This is a permanent role paying circa £60k-£65k plus 10%-15% bonus and a fantastic benefits package.
Working closely with the Head of Tax, the Tax Manager will look after all the UK tax affairs of the organisation covering both direct taxes and indirect taxes (biased towards corporate tax). The role has a great mix of tax advisory, tax compliance, business partnering, tax risk management and project work. The best thing about the role other than the brand name / the variety etc is that the plan is for this person to step up to the Head of Tax role in 3-5 years - becoming FTSE 250 Head of Tax will open up fantastic opportunities moving forward.
Responsibilities:
- Preparation of UK Corporate Tax returns
- Tax forecasting and monitoring of QIP payments
- Corporate tax accounting on annual and periodic basis including current and deferred tax provisioning
- Calculation of group's ETR under UK GAAP and IFRS
- Capital allowances work
- Preparation / review of UK VAT returns, ongoing VAT project work (etc. MTD)
- Ad-hoc work across other taxes such as payroll taxes, CIS returns etc
- Acting as a business partner for Tax and responding to regular tax queries from across the business
- Manage relationship with HMRC and work to maintain & improve current status
- Researching upcoming legislation changes to engage in proactive tax risk management
The position would suit someone with strong UK corporate tax experience gained either from practice or from industry. VAT / Indirect tax experience would be beneficial but is not mandatory. Ideally you will be a part-qualified or fully qualified accountant or tax advisor (ACA / ACCA / ICAS / CTA etc.) and you will possess strong commercial ability and stakeholder management skills. It's a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for their first in-house role, or for someone with prior industry experience who wants a varied role, or a position that offers a route to a Head of Tax role in the coming years.
