A leading global investment bank is looking to recruit a Senior Manager for their Business Continuity team - this is a high-impact role responsible for shaping and strengthening the firm's Business Continuity Management (BCM) framework across key locations. This position will be utilised to drive organisational resilience by developing risk mitigation strategies, coordinating business impact assessments, leading crisis preparedness initiatives, and collaborating with senior stakeholders. You’ll be instrumental in leading BCM activities across both the London and New York offices, while also overseeing training, testing programmes, third-party risk assessments, and senior-level reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Continuity Management
    • Support the ongoing enhancement and implementation of a robust, organisation-wide business continuity framework that aligns with industry standards and regulatory expectations.
    • Drive consistency in business continuity practices across international locations, ensuring operational resilience.
    • Regularly review and refine relevant policies and procedures in line with organisational developments and evolving risk profiles.
  • Risk and Impact Assessment
    • Coordinate comprehensive business impact assessments and risk evaluations to pinpoint operational threats and vulnerabilities.
    • Analyse findings to identify priority risks and guide the development of effective mitigation strategies.
    • Track emerging issues and incorporate them into continuity planning as needed.
  • Continuity and Recovery Strategy Development
    • Collaborate across departments to shape, implement, and maintain business continuity and recovery plans.
    • Ensure all strategies are designed to uphold business functions and enable swift recovery during disruptions.
    • Continuously assess the performance of these plans and identify opportunities for enhancement.
  • Testing and Preparedness
    • Lead the planning and execution of business continuity exercises and scenario-based drills.
    • Manage the delivery of an organisation-wide testing programme to ensure readiness and resilience.
  • Crisis and Incident Response
    • Play a key role in crisis preparedness by supporting effective incident response mechanisms and maintaining key communication tools.
    • Assist in coordinating swift, well-structured responses to business interruptions.
  • Supplier Resilience
    • Conduct evaluations and due diligence to ensure critical third-party partners have adequate continuity capabilities in place.
  • Oversight and Reporting
    • Deliver clear and concise updates to senior stakeholders, highlighting risks, current status, and ongoing improvement initiatives within the continuity programme.
  • Staff Engagement and Awareness
    • Design and roll out training programmes to promote awareness of business continuity responsibilities across the organisation.
    • Oversee the upkeep of internal platforms and tools used to support business continuity planning and daily operations (e.g. SharePoint).

Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience within Business Continuity at an Investment Bank.
  • Demonstrable experience in business continuity planning and crisis/risk management.
  • Experience in a regulated environment, ideally within financial services or investment banking.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g., PRA, FCA).
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience developing and delivering business continuity tests and training initiatives.
