I’m currently recruiting for a Head of Commercial Finance role on behalf of a leading FTSE-listed retail and technology business with a substantial international footprint and multi-billion-pound turnover.
This is a key leadership position, responsible for overseeing a high-performing business partnering function (c.12 FTEs) and managing full P&L ownership for one of the most commercially significant business units in the group.
The Role:
Sitting within the senior finance leadership team, this role will act as a strategic finance partner across a wide range of commercial and operational areas. The successful candidate will provide robust financial insight, challenge, and leadership to support growth, profitability, and long-term decision-making across a large, complex and fast-paced business.
What you’ll be doing?
- Lead and develop a commercial finance team of around 12, fostering a strong business partnering culture.
- Own the P&L and deliver meaningful analysis to support decision-making across trading, operations, marketing, and digital.
- Drive performance and accountability across a multi-channel, multi-site business unit with international exposure.
- Influence strategic planning, investment appraisal, and budgeting processes.
- Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across commercial and operational functions.
Your background:
We are looking for an experienced senior commercial finance professional who has operated at pace in large, complex environments. You’ll bring:
- A background in multisite and multichannel organisations, ideally within retail, consumer, or other fast-moving sectors (company turnover £800m+)
- Proven experience leading a business partnering or commercial finance team.
- A strong understanding of P&L ownership and financial performance management.
- The ability to challenge, influence and collaborate with senior non-finance stakeholders.
- A hands-on and pragmatic approach, with the confidence to operate at a senior level.
