Our client is a leading catering and hospitality business. The group’s central support office provides finance, HR, IT, supply chain, and other shared services to its operating companies, each of which maintains its own brand identity.

Role overview

The Procurement Manager will take ownership of all non-food categories, including packaging, chemicals, janitorial supplies, stationery, and uniforms, across the group’s UK and Ireland operations. Reporting to the Head of Wholesale Procurement, the successful candidate will define and deliver category strategies that drive cost efficiency, sustainability, and supplier performance in line with business objectives.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage supplier relationships, performance, and compliance in line with the company’s procurement framework.
  • Develop and implement category strategies that add value, reduce risk, and meet ESG (sustainability) objectives.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify innovations, trends, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Lead negotiations and contract management processes, ensuring legal and commercial best practices.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders in operations, finance, ESG, and supply chain to align procurement activities with business goals.
  • Maintain supplier governance through reviews, joint business plans, and performance tracking.
  • Oversee tender processes and benchmarking to manage category costs effectively.
  • Support sustainability initiatives such as reducing packaging waste and ensuring ethical sourcing standards.
  • Provide business partnering support to operating companies, offering market insights and procurement updates.

About you

  • Proven experience in procurement or category management within non-food or consumables categories.
  • Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Familiarity with modern procurement systems and contract governance.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational, and project management skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to balance operational delivery and long-term planning.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Experience driving sustainability and compliance across a supply base.
