About the Role
Our client, a rapidly growing Investment Management business, is looking for a Financial Controller to work closely with the Head of Finance in managing financial operations, reporting, and cash management activities. This position is well suited to someone with strong technical skills who enjoys being hands‑on, improving processes, and contributing to the development of a high‑quality finance function.
You will help ensure accurate reporting and smooth day‑to‑day finance operations across a diverse set of entities and investments, while also supporting the organisation’s broader activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the full spectrum of finance operations, including accounting, reporting, and treasury activities.
- Prepare and maintain financial statements, management information, and investment performance summaries across multiple entities.
- Oversee daily transaction processing, bank activity, reconciliations, and cash flow oversight.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and analytical work to support decision‑making and cost control.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and strong internal controls in line with relevant standards and policies.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax specialists, and legal advisors to support compliance and statutory requirements.
- Track investment and operating expenditure to ensure accuracy and timely reporting.
- Support the enhancement of finance systems, tools, and processes as the organisation evolves.
- Prepare materials for key stakeholders, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and discretion.
- Help shape scalable processes that will support long‑term growth and efficiency.
Candidate Requirements
- Approximately five years of post‑qualification experience within finance, accounting, or audit, ideally gained in investment management, private investment groups, or similarly complex environments.
- Relevant university degree plus a recognised accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
- Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards, financial instruments, valuation approaches, and investment reporting.
- Advanced analytical and modelling capabilities, with strong Excel skills and familiarity with finance systems or reporting platforms.
- A hands‑on, proactive approach with strong organisational and problem‑solving skills.
- Adaptable and comfortable working in a lean, fast‑paced setting.
- High levels of integrity, discretion, and professionalism when working with sensitive information.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across a small team.
- Experience reporting on both public and private investments is a significant advantage.
