Overview

My client is looking to recruit a Product Development Assistant to join their growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to make their mark and grow within a business that is going places.

The Product Development Assistant will support the Product Development team in the creation and launch of new products. This role involves coordinating various stages of product development from concept to production, ensuring projects are completed on time and meet quality standards. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organised, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with a Product Specialist assisting in product development using a four-point approach: Seasonal ranges by brand; Trend led product; Customer specific product; Everyday 365 product.
  • Duties & execution: Seasonal kick offs; Assist the product specialist in looking for the latest trends; Assist the product specialist in preparing comp shop reports; Assist the product specialist in preparing presentations using Canva.
  • Range building: Conduct in-depth market research with the product specialist to identify market requirements/gaps, trends, and customer preferences; Keep range plans up to date with all relevant information; Keep costing sheets up to date; Keep product decks up to date working with design to keep these fresh; Manage samples with a clear log of samples by vendor and stage; Collaborate with internal teams to develop products fit for market; Collaborate with suppliers to ensure all costs and product information are up to date; Complete specification sheets detailing every component of a product to ensure products are in line with or ahead of the competition and aligned to material costs.
  • Product sourcing / supplier management: Establish and maintain good relationships with existing and potential new suppliers; Complete new factory profile forms and ensure all new factories are approved by QA; Manage samples across all lines, negotiating samples with factories to minimise costs to the business; Regular video calls to maintain supplier relationships; Ensure standards for products and factories are up to date.
  • Critical path management: Assist with Product Development Critical Path Management; Ensure product critical paths and weekly workloads are on track to achieve deadlines from concept to pre-production with design and factories; Ensure deadlines are met and follow up on all sample issues to drive to completion; Monitor order Critical Path with Merch to ensure intake dates are met; Chase artwork, samples, testing to ensure CP dates are met; Flag issues at all stages and communicate to mitigate issues and delays; Liaise with internal license department and external license teams to push approvals.
  • Showroom / PD room management: Take overall responsibility for your areas in the showroom/pd room; Ensure all mocks up / samples are presented in the best form for seasonal launches in collaboration with internal teams; Ensure product bays are fully stocked with no missing samples, managing internal teams with additional sample requests if applicable; Ensure costing sheets are always up to date and match all specifications of products on show in the showroom.
