THE TEAM
At JSM Group, we specialise in delivering high-quality civil and cable installation services to the Electricity Supply Industry, including National Grid and Distribution Network Operators (DNOs). As we continue to expand, we are looking for a Project Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of assigned projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
SCOPE OF ROLE
As a Project Manager – Power Division, you will be responsible for managing individual projects or multiple contracts, ensuring the efficient use of resources, materials, plant, and equipment. You will lead operational planning, cost control, client management, and compliance, ensuring projects are completed incident-free, on time, and within budget. This role involves working on projects up to 132kV, as well as 275kV and 400kV, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
HOW YOU`LL SUCCEED
Overseeing all operational aspects of assigned projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery
Managing client relationships, demonstrating JSM’s technical and commercial value proposition
Providing technical and operational input into tendering, estimation, and bid preparation
Attending pre- and post-tender meetings, providing feedback to the Estimating Department
Leading contract administration, ensuring compliance with IMS and contract terms
Implementing and promoting SHEQ policies, ensuring safety and environmental compliance
Delivering Site Safety Briefings, Toolbox Talks, and Near Miss reporting initiatives
Conducting regular site visits and progress reviews with Site Agents
Identifying and implementing innovations to improve project efficiency
Coordinating with the Planning team to ensure workforce and resource alignment
Managing contract-related commercial issues, including variations, interim applications, and final account negotiations
Monitoring subcontractor performance, ensuring quality and adherence to program timelines
Enforcing Yellow and Red card disciplinary procedures where required
Providing operational and technical support to Site Agents and field teams
Producing reports, presentations, and drawings/designs as required
Investigating incidents and implementing preventative measures to enhance safety
WHAT IT TAKES
Proven experience in project management within the utilities, power, or infrastructure sectors
Strong technical knowledge of high-voltage (HV) infrastructure, including 132kV, 275kV, and 400kV networks
Expertise in contract management, cost control, and commercial negotiations
Experience working with DNOs, National Grid, and key power sector clients
Ability to lead and manage operational teams, ensuring project efficiency and compliance
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously
Excellent stakeholder management and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in project scheduling, reporting, and financial oversight
