JSM Group’s Power Division delivers complex, high-voltage utility infrastructure projects across the UK. Our team is built on a foundation of safety, collaboration, and technical excellence, working across frameworks that shape the future of the power sector. As we grow, we are looking for a dedicated Project Manager – Power to lead delivery across major civil and cable installation schemes, typically up to 132kV and occasionally at 275kV and 400kV.
Scope of Role
Reporting to the Contracts Manager or Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of assigned projects and workstreams within our Power Division. This includes overseeing on-site operations, driving programme delivery, and ensuring compliance with SHEQ standards, contract specifications, and financial targets. You will act as a key liaison between internal teams, clients, and contractors, providing leadership in both technical and commercial matters.
How you’ll succeed
- Manage civil and cable installation projects up to 132kV (and occasionally up to 400kV), ensuring safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery.
- Lead teams on site, driving high standards of safety, workmanship, and professionalism.
- Plan, monitor, and resource projects effectively to meet commercial and operational goals.
- Ensure compliance with legislation, contract requirements, and company policies.
- Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and ensure all SHEQ standards are upheld.
- Conduct site audits, risk assessments, and promote a culture of zero harm.
- Work closely with the commercial team to manage variations, CVRs, and final accounts.
- Handle recruitment, training needs, and performance reviews for direct reports.
- Maintain excellent site records and ensure all reporting (HSEQ, commercial, programme) is accurate and timely.
- Build positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Oversee subcontractor performance and drive continuous improvement in delivery.
- Take ownership of documentation including RAMS, drawings, work programmes, and KPI tracking.
- Lead by example in all operational and behavioural standards.
What it takes
Experience
- 3–5 years' experience in a similar management role within the power or utilities industry.
- Proven leadership of site teams in live project environments.
- Strong record of delivering against programme, safety, and commercial targets.
- Understanding of contracts (e.g. NEC, JCT, ICC) and experience on fixed-price or cost-plus projects.
- Proficient in MS Office, Outlook, and project planning tools (MS Project or Primavera).
- Experienced in file management, audits, and compliance reporting.
