Job Description

Mobile Technical Trainer & Product Support

Home Based | UK & Ireland

Β£40,000 + Excellent Benefits

Could you stand in front of experienced technicians and teach them something they don't already know? Would you be just as comfortable explaining it in a 60-second social media video?

You'll join a highly respected global automotive aftermarket manufacturer, taking a state-of-the-art mobile training facility directly to motor factors, distributors, garages and automotive professionals across the UK and Ireland.

You'll deliver hands-on training, demonstrate battery and diagnostic technology and create short, useful video content answering the questions technicians and parts professionals are asking.

If you know the automotive aftermarket, enjoy meeting people and can make technical subjects interesting, this could be a brilliant next step.

Why Apply?

  • Β£40,000 basic salary
  • Home-based field role
  • 37.5-hour working week
  • 24 days holiday plus bank holidays, increasing with service
  • Your birthday off
  • Holiday buy and sell scheme
  • Enhanced employer pension
  • Health cash plan and life assurance
  • Full product and train-the-trainer support
  • Your own state-of-the-art mobile training facility
  • Excellent career development with a global manufacturer

The Opportunity

Vehicle technology is changing quickly.

Start-stop systems, AGM and EFB batteries, increasingly complex vehicle electronics and the growth of hybrid and electric vehicles mean technicians and parts professionals constantly need to develop their knowledge.

Your job is to educate the educated.

You'll deliver practical, engaging sessions across the UK and Ireland and need to be equally comfortable talking to a technician on the workshop floor or a Managing Director in the boardroom.

Taking Technical Knowledge Online

Technicians and parts professionals increasingly learn through social media and short-form video.

You'll help the business reach them by recording short videos answering common technical questions, explaining new technology and demonstrating solutions.

You don't need to be a professional presenter, but you must be comfortable in front of a camera, confident across social media and able to explain technical subjects naturally and with personality.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Deliver face-to-face technical training
  • Visit motor factors, distributors, garages and other aftermarket customers
  • Demonstrate products and diagnostic technology
  • Provide technical support to customers and the sales team
  • Present at exhibitions, customer events and roadshows
  • Create short technical videos and social media content
  • Deliver virtual training where appropriate
  • Feed customer and market insight back into the business

There will be extensive UK and Ireland travel and overnight stays, so you'll need to genuinely enjoy being out meeting customers.

What We're Looking For

You'll ideally have automotive aftermarket experience gained with a motor factor, battery distributor, parts manufacturer, garage, diagnostic business or technical supplier.

You could currently work in technical support, product, sales or training. Alternatively, you could be an experienced technician or diagnostic specialist looking for a more customer-facing career.

You'll need a good understanding of vehicle electrical systems, automotive maintenance and repair, and ideally battery technology and electrical diagnosis.

Above all, we're looking for someone who is:

Confident. Engaging. Technically credible. Comfortable on social media. Happy in front of a camera. And genuinely enjoys meeting people.

Previous training experience would be useful but isn't essential. Full product and train-the-trainer support will be provided.

Why Consider It?

This is a role you can make your own.

You'll have the technology, training and support of a major international manufacturer, but also the freedom to bring your personality and ideas to how technical training is delivered.

One day you could be presenting to technicians, the next demonstrating technology at a customer event or recording a short technical video seen by people throughout the trade.

If you know the aftermarket, understand the technology and would enjoy being in front of a customer, we'd like to hear from you.

Apply today and Stewart Lupton at JSL Solutions, specialists in Industrial and Automotive Aftermarket Recruitment, will be in touch.
