We are working with a growing water treatment business that is looking to appoint an experienced Business Development Manager to strengthen its commercial presence across the area north of London, with Milton Keynes as an ideal base.

This is a commercially focused role for someone who combines strong business development skills with genuine technical expertise in water treatment, particularly around cooling towers and boiler water treatment.

You will spend approximately 70% of your time developing new business, identifying opportunities, winning new contracts and growing the company's customer base, with the remaining 30% focused on managing and developing existing client relationships.

The Role

  • Develop and win new business across the water treatment market.
  • Identify and target new customers and commercial opportunities.
  • Build long-term relationships with key decision-makers and technical stakeholders.
  • Focus heavily on cooling tower and boiler water treatment solutions.
  • Provide technically credible advice and solutions to customers.
  • Manage and develop an existing portfolio of clients.
  • Identify opportunities to increase revenue and expand existing accounts.
  • Prepare and present proposals, quotations and commercial solutions.
  • Work closely with operational and technical teams to ensure successful delivery.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of industry legislation, compliance and best practice.
  • Represent the company professionally at customer meetings and industry events.

About You

We are looking for an experienced water treatment professional who can sell technically, rather than simply sell on price. You should have:

  • Proven experience within the commercial water treatment industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge of cooling towers and boiler water treatment.
  • A successful track record in business development and winning new business.
  • The ability to hold credible technical conversations with customers and understand their water treatment requirements.
  • Experience managing and developing existing customer accounts.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • A commercially driven and proactive approach.
  • The confidence and technical ability to operate independently with customers.

This would suit someone currently working as a Business Development Manager, Account Manager, Technical Sales Manager or Senior Water Treatment Account Manager who is looking to take on a more commercially focused position.

Package

£55,000+ basic salary, depending on experience. Commission scheme, company vehicle or car allowance, pension, health scheme.
