Are you an experienced Authorising Engineer, Technical Manager or senior Water Hygiene specialist looking to join one of the UK's leading facilities management organisations? This is an outstanding opportunity to become the technical authority for a major healthcare portfolio across Northern England and Scotland, working for a global organisation that genuinely invests in technical excellence and long-term careers.

The Role

This is a home-based position covering the North of the UK, including Scotland, with regular travel to customer sites. As the regional Authorising Engineer (Water Hygiene) you'll be the subject matter expert, providing technical leadership and ensuring the highest standards of water hygiene compliance across a portfolio of hospitals and other critical facilities. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as the regional technical authority for Water Hygiene.
  • Undertaking annual Authorising Engineer audits across multiple sites.
  • Ensuring compliance with ACoP L8, HSG274 and HTM 04-01.
  • Supporting operational teams to resolve complex water hygiene and water quality issues.
  • Providing technical guidance, mentoring and training to Responsible Persons (RPs), Competent Persons (CPs) and operational teams.
  • Reviewing Water Safety Plans and driving continuous improvement.
  • Supporting contract mobilisations, projects and new business opportunities with technical expertise.
  • Producing detailed technical reports and recommendations.
  • Leading or supporting technical investigations following incidents where required.
  • Representing the business at client meetings, technical forums and industry events.
  • Helping develop technical standards, governance and engineering best practice across the business.

What We're Looking For

You'll already be an Authorising Engineer, or be an experienced Technical Manager or senior Water Hygiene professional looking to step into the role. Ideally you'll have:

  • Extensive Water Hygiene and Water Treatment experience.
  • Strong healthcare experience with excellent knowledge of HTM 04-01, ACoP L8 and HSG274.
  • Experience carrying out technical audits and compliance assessments.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and report writing skills.
  • The ability to influence and mentor operational teams.
  • Engineering qualifications or equivalent industry experience.
  • CIBSE, IHEEM or Authorising Engineer qualifications would be advantageous.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Northern England and Scotland.
