Are you an experienced Environmental Consultant looking to lead complex environmental compliance and sustainability projects?
My client is seeking a Senior Environmental Consultant to join their growing environmental consultancy team.
This is an excellent opportunity to work with clients across sectors including food & drink, chemical, waste management, construction and engineering, providing expert environmental advice and supporting organisations to achieve compliance, reduce environmental impact and implement sustainable practices.
You'll manage a varied portfolio of projects, build strong client relationships and provide technical expertise while contributing to the continued growth of the consultancy team.
The Opportunity
Working as part of a multidisciplinary environmental team, you will lead environmental projects, support compliance initiatives and act as a trusted advisor to clients and stakeholders.
This role offers the opportunity to develop technical expertise, mentor junior colleagues and contribute to business development activities within a flexible hybrid working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver environmental consultancy projects from inception through to completion.
- Provide advice on environmental legislation, compliance requirements and sustainability best practice.
- Carry out environmental audits, risk assessments and compliance reviews.
- Prepare environmental documentation, permit applications and management procedures.
- Implement and audit Environmental Management Systems in line with ISO 14001 standards.
- Manage project delivery, reporting, quality assurance and stakeholder engagement.
- Build relationships with clients, regulators and industry stakeholders.
- Deliver environmental training, workshops and technical guidance.
- Support proposals, tenders and business development opportunities.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to technical knowledge sharing.
About You
Applicants are likely to have
- A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Sustainability or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years' experience within environmental consultancy or a related industry.
- Strong understanding of UK environmental legislation, sustainability principles and compliance requirements.
- Experience with environmental audits, risk assessments, permitting and reporting.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
- Strong project management, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Excellent report writing and analytical abilities.
- Practitioner membership of a relevant professional body (e. g. ISEP, CIWEM or equivalent).
- Lead Auditor qualification would be advantageous.
