My client is a specialist independent consultancy working globally across multiple sectors. They are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist to provide expert advisory services in climate change, carbon accounting, and sustainability strategy.
This role involves working with corporate clients, financial institutions, and government bodies to develop and implement climate strategies, conduct carbon footprint assessments, and support regulatory compliance and voluntary sustainability reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
β€’ Lead carbon footprint assessments using internationally recognized standards (e.g., GHG Protocol, ISO 14064, PCAF).
β€’ Develop decarbonization strategies and net-zero roadmaps for businesses, including science-based targets (SBTs) and climate risk assessments.
β€’ Conduct climate risk and opportunity assessments aligned with TCFD and, where relevant, nature-related disclosures (TNFD).
β€’ Provide technical expertise on carbon markets, emissions trading schemes, and voluntary carbon o setting.
β€’ Support clients with ESG and sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g., CDP, ISSB, GRI, CSRD, SEC Climate Disclosure).
β€’ Advise on regulatory and policy developments related to climate change, including corporate climate disclosures, Scope 3 emissions, and carbon taxation.
β€’ Where relevant to the climate-biodiversity nexus, engage with clients to develop natural capital accounting approaches and assess biodiversity-related impacts.
β€’ Develop climate finance strategies, including pathways for green investments and transition finance.
β€’ Provide thought leadership through industry publications, presentations, and stakeholder engagement.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
β€’ 8+ years of experience in climate change advisory, carbon accounting, or sustainability consulting.
β€’ Strong knowledge of GHG inventories, lifecycle assessments (LCA), and corporate sustainability frameworks.
β€’ Experience in climate policy analysis, carbon pricing mechanisms, and emissions reduction strategies.
β€’ Familiarity with energy transition trends, net-zero regulations, and emerging nature-related financial disclosures.
β€’ Ability to interpret and apply international and national climate regulations.
β€’ Strong project management skills, including stakeholder engagement and client relationship management.
β€’ Relevant academic background (e.g., Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, Economics).
β€’ Professional certifications such as ISO 14064 Lead Verifier, CFA in ESG Investing, or GARP SCR (Sustainability & Climate Risk) are an advantage.
