Join a mission-led Ecology & Sustainability Consultancy committed to enhancing biodiversity beyond policy and legislative requirements. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Biodiversity Ecologist to lead projects, engage with clients, and drive positive biodiversity outcomes.
Location: London, Flexible Home Working Arrangements Available
Key Responsibilities
- Project Management: Lead and deliver ecology projects from inception to completion, ensuring high-quality outputs and meeting fee targets.
- Fieldwork & Surveys: Undertake and lead ecological surveys, including UKHab, Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEA), and bat surveys.
- Reporting & Assessments: Prepare technical reports, including PEAs, BIAs, BREEAM Ecology Credit Assessments, EcIAs, HRAs, and protected species reports.
- Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG): Conduct BNG calculations using Defra Metric 4.0 and contribute to biodiversity enhancement strategies.
- Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with clients, consultants, and external stakeholders to provide expert ecological advice.
- Business Development: Contribute to tender production, client liaison, and commercial growth activities.
- Team Support & Leadership: Provide mentoring and support to junior team members and collaborate on larger projects.
Skills & Experience Required
- Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or related field (MSc desirable).
- CIEEM membership (Associate, working towards Full Membership).
- Strong experience in ecological consultancy, including project and client management.
- Proficiency in ecological survey methodologies and protected species licensing.
- Strong report writing skills and ability to interpret ecological data.
- Knowledge of UK biodiversity policy, legislation, and natural capital principles.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
