A highly mission-driven Ecology and Sustainability Consultancy is offering an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Ecologist to join their growing team. This consultancy is dedicated to working with organizations committed to achieving positive biodiversity outcomes that go beyond minimum policy and legislative requirements.

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate to begin a rewarding career in ecology. The successful candidate will support a range of ecological projects, gaining hands-on experience in biodiversity assessment, field surveys, and ecological consultancy.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in conducting ecological field surveys, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEA), UKHab surveys, and protected species surveys (e.g., bats, amphibians, and reptiles).
Support the preparation of ecological reports, impact assessments, and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) calculations using the Defra Metric 4.0.
Contribute to desk-based research and data analysis for ecological assessments.
Assist with GIS mapping and data interpretation for habitat and biodiversity projects.
Work collaboratively with senior ecologists and project managers to support biodiversity enhancement strategies.
Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies as part of project delivery.
Stay up to date with relevant legislation, policy changes, and best practices in ecology and conservation.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

A degree (BSc/MSc) in Ecology, Environmental Science, Conservation Biology, or a related field.
A passion for biodiversity, habitat conservation, and ecological consultancy.
Some experience in ecological surveys (academic, voluntary, or professional) is desirable.
Knowledge of UK ecology, wildlife legislation, and planning policy is advantageous.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and GIS software is beneficial.
Excellent report-writing, analytical, and communication skills.
A willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional travel and fieldwork.
A full UK driving license (desirable but not essential).
