About the role
We are looking for a reliable, practical and enthusiastic person to join our events team as an Event Crew Driver & Games Operator. This is not just a driving job. You will help deliver games and event equipment to venues, load and unload vans, set up equipment, make sure everything looks professional, stay on site when required, help run games or equipment during the event, and then pack everything down at the end. The role would suit someone who enjoys events, likes hands-on work, is confident speaking to people, and takes pride in helping create a good experience for guests and clients.
What you will be doing
- Driving a long wheelbase van to and from event venues
- Loading and unloading event equipment
- Setting up games, activities and event equipment on site
- Checking equipment is clean, presentable, safe and ready to use
- Speaking with clients, venue staff and guests in a professional way
- Staying on site at some events to operate games or assist guests
- Explaining how games or equipment work
- Keeping the event area tidy and well-presented
- Solving small issues on site calmly and sensibly
- Packing down after events
- Returning equipment to base and unloading after the job
You will often be the face of the company on site, so reliability, attitude and presentation are very important.
What we are looking for
- Reliable, punctual and organised
- Confident driving a long wheelbase van
- Comfortable with physical work, loading and unloading
- Practical and good at problem-solving
- Friendly, polite and presentable
- Comfortable speaking with clients, guests and venue staff
- Interested in events, not just driving
- Happy working weekends, evenings, early starts and occasional late finishes
- Able to work independently once trained
- Calm under pressure when things change on site
Essential requirements
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience driving vans or confidence driving a long wheelbase van
- Ability to safely lift, move and set up event equipment
- Good spoken English and customer-facing communication skills
- Availability for weekend and event-based work
- A professional attitude when representing the company
- The right to work in the UK
Desirable experience
- Events
- Weddings
- Festivals
- Corporate events
- Hospitality
- Entertainment
- AV or production
- Marquee work
- Venue work
- Sports or leisure activities
- Delivery work involving setup, not just drop-off
- Customer-facing roles
Previous event experience is preferred, but attitude is just as important. We are looking for someone who wants to be part of events and is happy to get stuck in.
Pay
Pay is £15–£16.50 per hour, depending on experience. Higher rates are available for someone who can lead jobs independently, deal with clients on site, solve problems and take responsibility for event delivery. You are paid from arrival at base through to return, unload and finish.
Important
Please only apply if you are looking for a hands-on events role. This role involves driving, lifting, loading, unloading, setting up games, speaking to clients and guests, staying on site during events, running equipment and packing down afterwards. This is not a delivery-driver-only position.
How to apply
Please send your CV and a short message answering the following questions:
- What event, hospitality, entertainment, venue, festival, wedding or customer-facing experience do you have?
- Are you comfortable driving a long wheelbase van?
- Are you happy loading, unloading, setting up and packing down event equipment?
- Are you available for weekends, evenings, early starts and occasional late finishes?
- This is not just a driving job. What interests you about the events side of the role?
Applications without answers to these questions may not be considered.
Equal opportunities
We welcome applications from people with the right attitude, reliability and practical ability. Reasonable adjustments can be discussed during the recruitment process.
