JR PAT Testing is an expanding PAT and Compliance Company currently looking for engineers to join our team in St Austell. We offer self‐employed positions with flexible hours, allowing interested individuals to work either part‐time or full‐time.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to a variety of sites including hospitals, retail outlets, and other workplaces to conduct Portable Appliance Testing (PAT).
  • Pack and maintain testing equipment and record books in the vehicle before each job.
  • Perform PAT on a wide range of electrical appliances such as microwaves, kettles, computers and other items.
  • Use test instruments to determine the safety of appliances and make recommendations for repair, replacement or safe usage.
  • Inform users of testing results, explaining any issues found and the reasons behind appliance suitability.
  • Record findings in dedicated PAT test report books or electronic systems.
  • Complete additional paperwork such as completion certificates and checklists as required.
  • Organise and manage time effectively while moving between multiple job sites during a typical workday.
  • Maintain equipment, ensuring it is up‐to‐date, in good working order and compliant with relevant regulations.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Employment Type: Self‐employed PAT engineer positions.
  • Education Level: City & Guilds 2377 PAT qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience: Proven competence aligned with City & Guilds standards.
  • Location: St Austell & commutable areas; reasonable commuting distance required although national travel is acceptable.
  • Vehicle & Equipment: Must own suitable transport and have testing instruments, measuring devices and tools that are calibrated at least yearly.
  • Insurance: Own professional indemnity insurance.
  • Skills: Reliable, honest, with a 'can‐do' attitude.
