JR PAT Testing is growing rapidly across the UK. We are looking for experienced PAT Engineers with the required equipment and insurance to join our team as self‑employed contractors. All engineers must have their own insurance and keep their testing equipment calibrated at least once a year. In exchange, JR PAT provides an engineer handbook, contract for services, branded clothing, labels and technical support.

Job Location: Sudbury Town (commutable areas)
Commute: Reasonable distance to Sudbury Town; engineers can travel nationwide
Salary: Earnings discussed per job; pro‑rated basis per appliance, number of tests and job dynamics
Job Responsibilities
- Travel to various work sites (hospitals, retail outlets, offices, etc.) to perform portable appliance testing.
- Operate testing instruments, record results, and maintain test reports.
- Inform users of test outcomes, explain any necessary repairs or replacements, and provide completion certificates or checklists.
- Ensure all equipment is kept up‑to‑date, in good working order and compliant with regulations.
- Work independently or as part of a small team, staying organised and completing tests accurately and efficiently.
Typical Day
A typical day involves packing tools, travelling to the first job, conducting tests on a range of appliances (microwaves, kettles, computers, etc.), documenting findings in paper or electronic systems, distributing reports to employers, and moving to the next location until all jobs for the day are finished.
Qualifications
- A valid City & Guilds 2377 PAT qualification or an equivalent certification.
- Reliability, honesty and a “can‑do” attitude.
- Transport to reach work sites and possession of all required testing instruments.
- Public liability insurance and a calibration certificate for their equipment.
