Responsibilities

A PAT Engineer will conduct portable appliance testing across a range of sites including hospitals, retail outlets, office buildings, and other workplaces. Responsibilities include:

  • Visiting sites and preparing equipment for testing.
  • Performing safety tests on electrical appliances using authorized instruments.
  • Assessing test results and determining whether items are safe, require repair or replacement.
  • Providing clear explanations of findings to clients and issuing completion certificates.
  • Recording all results in a dedicated test report book or electronic system.
  • Maintaining equipment in good working order and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Traveling to job sites independently or as part of a team while keeping schedules organised.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Holder of a City & Guilds 2377 qualification or an equivalent certification.
  • Own transport and capability to travel to job sites.
  • Own insurance and equipment calibrated annually.
  • Reliable, honest, and self‑motivated with a ‘can‑do’ attitude.
