JR PAT Testing is growing rapidly across the UK, and we would love to speak with you if you are an experienced PAT Engineer with the equipment and insurance in place. If you are already self‑employed or considering becoming self‑employed, we would like to hear from you. Our onboarding process starts with a friendly conversation. All our engineers are required to have their own insurance and to have their equipment calibrated at least once a year.

You must hold a City & Guilds 2377 PAT qualification or equivalent, be reliable and honest, and possess a “can‑do” attitude. All equipment must be kept up to date, in good working order, and meet relevant regulations.
As a Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) engineer, no two days are the same. From hospitals to retail outlets, you will work in a variety of locations and environments. Your day begins with packing all necessary tools and equipment, then traveling to the first job. On site, you will perform PAT on appliances such as microwaves, kettles, and computers, using test instruments to determine safety. You will inform users of results, explain why certain appliances may be unfit for use, record findings in a test report book or electronic system, and provide employers with copies. Additional paperwork such as completion certificates and checklists may be required. Throughout the day you will move constantly from one location to another, either alone or as part of a team. Staying organised and ensuring accurate, efficient testing are essential for success. The role is physically and mentally demanding but rewarding, offering variety, learning opportunities and potential advancement.
