Typical Day for a PAT Engineer: A typical day starts by packing tools and equipment into the van before heading to the first job. On site, you test appliances such as microwaves, kettles and computers, ensuring they are safe. You inform users of results and explain any issues. You record findings in a PAT test report book or electronic system and provide employers with copies. Additional paperwork, such as completion certificates and checklists, may be required. Throughout the day you move between locations, alone or with a team, requiring organization and accuracy. Success in this role requires skill, experience and patience.
