JR PAT Testing is growing across the UK and is looking for experienced PAT Engineers with equipment and insurance. We are hiring self‑employed PAT Engineers. All engineers must have their own insurance and have equipment calibrated at least once a year. In return, we provide a handbook, contract for services, branded clothing, labels, and technical support.

- Education: City & Guilds 2377 or equivalent.
- Experience: Proven competence in line with the City & Guilds requirement.
- Location: Muswell Hill and commutable areas (national travel acceptable).
- Salary: Discussed when booking a job; earnings pro‑rate based on rate per appliance, number of tests, and job dynamics.
Responsibilities
- Perform portable appliance testing for a range of applications including hospitals, retail outlets, and other workplaces.
- Pack and transport testing equipment, record books, and related tools to client sites.
- Conduct electrical tests on appliances such as microwaves, kettles, computers, etc., using appropriate test instruments.
- Inform users of results and explain safety issues and necessary actions.
- Document findings in a dedicated PAT test report book or electronic system; provide employers with copies.
- Complete additional paperwork such as completion certificates and checklists.
- Maintain equipment in good working order and compliant with relevant regulations.
- Stay organized, manage travel time, and ensure accurate and efficient test completion.
Qualifications
- Valid City & Guilds 2377 PAT qualification or equivalent.
- Reliable, honest, and with a ‘can‑do’ attitude.
- Proven competence and experience as a PAT tester.
- Own relevant equipment or willingness to obtain.
- Self‑employed status and valid insurance.
