JR PAT Testing is growing rapidly across the UK, and we would love to speak with you if you are an experienced PAT Engineer with the equipment and insurance in place. If you are already self‑employed or considering becoming self‑employed, we would like to hear from you.

Our onboarding process starts with a friendly conversation. All our engineers are required to have their own insurance and to have their equipment calibrated at least once a year. In return, along with our engineer handbook, contract for services and branded clothing, we supply labels and technical support.

Employment Type: Self‑employed, with flexible hours, part‑time or full‑time options.

Education Level: City & Guilds 2377 PAT qualification or equivalent.

Experience: Proven competence in line with the City & Guilds 2377.

Job Location: London Bridge & commutable areas.

Commute: Reasonable commuting distance from London Bridge or closer (we are national).

Salary: Earnings discussed per job; pro‑rata based on rate per appliance, number of tests, and job dynamics.

JR PAT Testing is an expanding PAT and Compliance company currently looking for engineers to join our team in London Bridge. We offer self‑employed positions with flexible hours and ability to work part‑time or full‑time.

Although some candidates may travel further afield, we require all applicants to have a reasonable commuting distance to London Bridge.

Responsibility involves conducting Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) at various sites – hospitals, retail outlets, schools, offices, etc. Duties include testing appliances such as microwaves, kettles and computers, informing users of results, and recommending replacements or repairs. Record findings in reports or electronic systems and provide completion certificates and checklists.

All equipment must be kept up‑to‑date, in good working order, and meet relevant regulations. Candidates must have transport or suitable means to get to work.

A typical day of a portable appliance testing (PAT) engineer involves packing tools and equipment into the van before heading to the first job. At each site, you will test a range of appliances, explain results to users and document findings. You may be working alone or part of a team. Completing paperwork such as reports and certificates is essential.

Throughout the day you will move from location to location; organization and accurate testing are vital. This role requires skill, experience and patience. It is physically and mentally demanding but offers variety and opportunities for advancement.
