JR PAT Testing is an expanding PAT and Compliance Company currently looking for engineers to join our team in Hanger Lane. We offer self‑employed positions with flexible hours, allowing interested individuals to work either part‑time or full‑time.

Responsibilities

  • As a Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) engineer, you will travel to a variety of sites such as hospitals, retail outlets and other workplaces and perform electrical safety tests on appliances.
  • The typical day involves:
    • Preparing your pack of equipment and record books before departure.
    • Performing PAT tests on appliances (microwaves, kettles, computers, etc.) using appropriate instruments.
    • Informing users of the results and explaining safety issues.
    • Recording findings in a dedicated PAT test report book or electronic system and providing employers with copies.
    • Completing any required paperwork, such as completion certificates and checklists.
    • Being organised on the move between locations, alone or as part of a team, and ensuring accurate and efficient testing.

Success in this role requires skill, experience and patience.

Qualifications

  • Proven competence in Line (City & Guilds 2377 or equivalent) is required.
  • Candidates must have their own insurance and calibrated testing equipment, and be able to maintain equipment in good working order.

Education level: City & Guilds 2377 or equivalent.

Months of experience: proven competence in line with the C&G.

Job location: Hanger Lane & commutable areas.

How close to job need to live: reasonable commuting distance or closer; can travel nationally.
