JR PAT Testing is rapidly expanding across the UK. We are looking for experienced Portable Appliance Test (PAT) Engineers to join our team in Deptford. This is a self‑employed position with flexible working hours, allowing part‑time or full‑time arrangements.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on‑site safety testing of electrical appliances, including handheld units, kitchen appliances, and office equipment.
  • Visit client sites such as hospitals, retail outlets, and offices to perform PAT testing.
  • Use calibrated test instruments and record results in a dedicated test report book or electronic system.
  • Provide completion certificates, checklists and completion reports to employers.
  • Communicate findings and recommend replacements or repairs to users.
  • Maintain and calibrate testing equipment in compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Organise travel and ensure all equipment is transportable.

Qualifications

  • City & Guilds 2377 PAT qualification or equivalent.
  • Self‑employed with valid public liability insurance.
  • Own calibrated PAT testing equipment (testers, measuring devices, record book).
  • Reliable, honest and proactive with a ‘can‑do’ attitude.
  • Ability to travel to Deptford and other areas within reasonable commuting distance.
  • Experience with PAT testing; experience level is more important than measured months.
