JR PAT Testing is growing rapidly across the UK and is looking for experienced PAT engineers to join our team at Brent Cross. The role offers self‑employed positions with flexible hours, allowing you to work part‑time or full‑time. All engineers are expected to have their own insurance, equipment and must maintain their equipment calibrated at least once a year. The role provides an opportunity to earn on a pro‑rate basis, with potential earnings dependent on the rate per appliance, the number of tests and job dynamics. Projects range from one‑day jobs to long‑term contracts, giving flexibility and variety.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to varied sites, including hospitals, retail outlets and other workplaces.
  • Perform PAT testing on appliances such as microwaves, kettles, computers and other electrical items.
  • Use test instruments to identify faulty or unsafe equipment and determine if repair or replacement is required.
  • Record findings in a PAT test report book or electronic system and provide employers with copies.
  • Complete necessary paperwork, including completion certificates and checklists.
  • Maintain accurate and efficient test records and stay organised while moving between sites.
  • Communicate results to users and explain any safety concerns or required actions.

Qualifications

  • City & Guilds 2377 PAT qualification or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 12 months proven competence in line with the C&G.
  • Reliability, honesty and a ‘can‑do’ attitude.
  • Own equipment and a vehicle or reliable transport to travel to job sites.
  • Ability to work within a reasonable commuting distance of Brent Cross; national work is permitted.

Employment Type & Compensation

Self‑employed contractor. Salary discussed when booking a job; earnings based on rate per appliance.
