JR PAT Testing is growing rapidly across the UK and we are looking for experienced PAT Engineers with the equipment and insurance in place. If you are self‑employed or considering self‑employment, we would like to hear from you. All engineers must have their own insurance and equipment calibrated at least once a year. In return, we provide an engineer handbook, a contract for services, branded clothing, labels and technical support.

  • Job location: Bognor Regis and reasonable commuting distance; national coverage possible
  • Pay: Pro‑rated based on test rates, number of tests and job dynamics; discussed at booking

Responsibilities

  • Travel to sites such as hospitals, retail outlets and offices to conduct portable appliance testing (PAT).
  • Use calibrated test instruments to assess electrical safety of appliances (e.g., microwaves, kettles, computers).
  • Inform users of test results and explain safety findings.
  • Record findings in a PAT test report book or electronic system and provide employers with copies.
  • Complete necessary paperwork such as completion certificates and checklists.
  • Maintain and service testing instruments and keep all equipment in good working order.
  • Operate independently, organising work schedule and ensuring accurate and efficient test completion.

  • Own valid City & Guilds 2377 PAT qualification or equivalent.
  • Own testing instruments and transport to deliver to sites.
  • Reliable, honest and can‑do attitude.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to work independently.
