JR PAT Testing is expanding rapidly across the UK and is looking for experienced Portable Appliance Test (PAT) Engineers to join our team in Aldgate East.

Experience: Proven competence in line with the City & Guilds 2377 standard
Job Location: Aldgate East (commutable; national coverage allowed)

Job Description: As a self‑employed PAT Engineer you will conduct portable appliance testing and compliance checks at a variety of sites, ranging from hospitals to retail outlets. The role offers flexible working hours with the option to work part‑time or full‑time, and allows you to take on jobs that suit your schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Transport and set up testing equipment, record books and other necessary tools to each site
- Perform PAT tests on appliances such as microwaves, kettles, computers and other electrical equipment
- Identify and document any safety defects or non‑conformities, and advise users on potential risks
- Complete test reports, certificates and other paperwork accurately and submit to employers
- Maintain all testing instruments, ensuring they are calibrated annually and kept in good working order
- Communicate results clearly to site managers and end users, providing guidance on repair or replacement when necessary
- Stay organised and manage time effectively while traveling between multiple locations per day
A Typical Day: You will start each day by packing your testing tools into your vehicle, travel to the first job site, conduct tests, record results, and provide feedback to the client.
